Course Description: This course is designed to foster a love for literature and improve students’ writing skills through engaging discussions, diverse readings, and structured writing assignments. Students will explore different genres, including fiction, poetry, drama, and nonfiction, while developing their ability to analyze and respond to texts thoughtfully. Writing assignments will focus on various forms such as literary analysis, persuasive essays, creative writing, and research-based compositions. The goal is to help students grow as confident writers and critical thinkers in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Course Objectives:
- Analyze Literature – Interpret themes, structure, and literary elements in different texts.
- Develop Writing Skills – Craft well-structured essays, narratives, and research papers.
- Improve Research Abilities – Learn how to evaluate sources and incorporate evidence properly.
- Enhance Critical Thinking – Compare different perspectives and articulate well-reasoned arguments.
- Master MLA Formatting – Apply proper citation and formatting techniques.
- Engage in Discussion – Participate in thoughtful classroom discussions about literature and writing.

- Binder with dividers for organizing handouts and notes.
- Notebook paper.
- Pencils and highlighters.
- Access to a computer with internet for assignments

Grading Scale:A: 90–100% • B: 80–89% • C: 70–79% • D: 60–69% • F: Below 60%
