Course Description: In this course, we will overview the basics of knitting and crocheting.  We will learn the tools and uses of both crafts and will practice several different techniques.  In the first semester, we will cover knitting, from casting on to more advanced stitches, and we will make a project using the skills we learned.  In the second semester, we will learn all about crocheting and will try our hands at several more projects.
Course Objectives: In this class, students will learn the basics of knitting and crocheting, how to read and follow a pattern, and how to make a few useful projects using the techniques we have learned.
Course Grade Level: 10 years old and up.
Course Duration: Full Year

Class Time: Tuesday 2:30PM-3:25PM
Required Materials(s): 1 set (of two) size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles, 1 set (8 piece) sizes D through K crochet hooks (Boye Brand), scissors, two yarn needles (can be plastic or metal)
Supply Fee 2: $25
Classroom Expectations:

  • Technology will not be used in the classroom
  • Students must be on time
  • Food and Drinks are not allowed in the classroom except sealed water bottles

Grading Policies:

  • Attendance & Participation 20%
  • Effort & Performance 30%
  • Projects 50%

Grading Scale: 100-90 A, 89-80 B, 79-70 C, 69-60 D, Below 60 F
Additional Information: Yarn and patterns will be provided by the teacher.
