Course Description: Junior Achievement BizTown is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship through an interactive, real-world simulation. Through guided instruction and experiential learning, JA BizTown fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities that prepare students for future academic and career success. This program aligns with Florida’s academic standards by reinforcing key concepts in social studies, mathematics, reading, writing, and employability skills, ensuring students can effectively apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. This class includes a field trip to BizTown near the end of class where students can practice what they have learned. They will engage in hands on activities and assume various roles within a simulated town which will further help students use their critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they make decisions on various financial and business operations matters as well as decisions as an informed consumer.
Course Objectives: Through interactive activities, exploring real life economic principles, and decision making processes, students will develop essential skills in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. The lessons also reinforce key concepts in social studies, mathematics, reading, writing, and employability skills. As they explore career paths, and practice responsible decision-making, they will understand the impact of economic choices. By engaging in a simulated economy, students will gain confidence in managing finances, working collaboratively, and will understand the role of businesses and government in society, equipping them with practical knowledge for future success.

Grade Level: 4th-6th
Class Time: Thursday 12:30PM-1:25PM
Materials: Three-ring binder with paper and pockets for hand outs and materials. Pen or Pencil.
Classroom Expectations:
- Students are expected to complete all assigned homework problems
- Students are expected to participate in class discussions and activities
- Students are expected to bring their binder and pen/pencil to every class.
- Students are expected to display Christian character in class. Disrespectful behavior towards teacher or classmates will not be tolerated.
Grading Policy: 45% Class Participation; 30% Homework 25% Tests & Quizzes
Grading Scale: 90-100 =A, 80-89=B, 70-79=C, 60-69=D, 50-59=F
