Course Description: This course focuses on the anatomy and physiology of the human body and its organ systems. In this course we will study histology and the integumentary, skeletal, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, urinary, and reproductive systems. Students can expect to connect what they learn in the textbook with hands-on experiments. Students will work in pairs to dissect a cow eye, a cow heart, and a fetal pig.
Course Objectives: This is an advanced biology course that will prepare students for college level science courses.

Course Prerequisite(s): Strongly recommend Biology but not required
Classroom Expectations: This is a high workload class.
- Students are expected to come to class prepared to discuss assigned readings and completed assignments.
- Students are expected to be respectful of each other and the instructor. There is a module about the male and female reproductive systems.
- Students should already have a basic understanding of human reproduction and also be mature enough to discuss in a classroom setting.
Grading Policies: Attendance 10%, Homework 25%, Labs and experiments 35%, Tests 30%
Grading Scale: Grading Scale: 100%-90% A, 89%-80% B, 79%-70% C, 69%-60% D, 59%-0% F
Additional Information: This class is designed for 11th and 12th grade but is open to all high schoolers. Please assess the readiness of your student(s) for the material. Anatomy and Physiology requires an extensive amount of memorization. The Kaplan Anatomy Coloring Book is highly recommended.
