Course Description: This class is designed to follow the history of American literature through time. As a class, we will explore how each period affected the literature produced as well as learn literary analysis skills. This class will be relatively heavy on at-home reading. We will cover a variety of short stories and poems, plus students will need to read one full novel during the year. There will be a minimal number of in-class quizzes/tests. The curriculum marries well with the American History class I teach, but can also be taken independently.
